apt-X boosts Bluetooth stereo fidelity
Wireless Digital Audio specialist APT (Belfast, UK) now offers makers of portable media players and active speakers an upgrade path to superior stereo fidelity over Bluetooth wireless with an channel-optimised audio codec called apt-X. An alternative to SBC, the “factory default” audio codec for Bluetooth A2DP, apt-X renders noticebly improved stereo audio quality, and provides a more robust link (fewer “drop-outs”) in the presence of interference. “LIsten to an MP3 using Bluetooth stereo headphones. The sound quality is just okay. Switch in apt-X and the sound quality improves dramatically – even to the non-audiophile listener.” said an APT spokesperson.
